1.12 Red Sky
« on: May 24, 2010, 07:11:36 PM »
I like this episode - based on this one and the previous one, I'm now glad they renewed the series for season 2 :)

Lisa started out as the second most boring and uninteresting character IMHO (Tyler stills wins that price as far as I'm concerned) but in the last three or so episodes, she's become one of the most interesting characters instead :D She's growing up, becoming her own person.

Too bad about Joshua, but I've been expecting this for what feels like most of the series so I'm not surprised. I am surprised though that he was revived and Marcus was there to give what sounded to me like a very friendly "welcome back" - not "welcome back I will torture now for information". Not sure what's going on with Marcus, if anything... I really really hope he'll turn out to be more than just Anna's loyal right hand man. I'd love for him to be 5th Column or maybe just driving his own agenda, separate from Anna's - I still think it's remarkable that he's the only older/middle-aged V so far seen. I keep hoping there's some significance to that.

Anna's loss of control/first experience of emotion was rather spectacular! I wonder if and how it will affect this "Bliss", however it works, that she controls her people with? If the Bliss is comes from her somehow, from her inner serenity and balance, and is now "tainted" with her experience of emotion.

Anyway, looking forward the season 2 :)

I watched this episode for the second time last night and that makes it the only episode since the first four that I have watched more than once.

Finally the resistance stepped up and took some positive action. This has been very long over due. With the developments in this episode I think the series is getting to where it should have been much earlier this season ( say around ep. 6 ). Hopefully this is a sign of the way things will go in the next season.

Lisa is starting to develop but I feel she still has a way to go before she becomes central to the plot. Still just a supporting character but possibly the future queen of her people and their only hope.

There seems to be some interesting stuff happening with all the characters which really peaks my interest.

Then there is the red sky ( which I will have to admit when it first happened I started singing red sky at night by the fixx ) is this the beginning of a project to make the earth more like their home planet so they can begin colonization.

Maybe that is what Marcus is all about. He may not think Anna is the best leader but he understands that they have to colonize the earth and it's that which he believes in the most so he's following his own agenda to ensure that it happens.

Sorry to see Val die and I wonder if we will see the Doc. who was helping here again? ( I forget her name )

As for Marcus I don't think he will turn out to be 5th column. I think he has his own agenda, possibly in line with what Anna had planed. He may be having doubts about Anna's ability to lead or he may have been planing to usurp her power from the beginning. He's becoming one of the most intriguing characters I feel. One of my friends brought up the idea that the character may be patterned after Marcus Aurelius who was co-emperor of rome and a stoic which kind of describes this marcus. I'm not to sure I would give that much credit to the writers for knowing that much history but it would bring up some interesting ideas if they were to follow history.

I had to laugh about Joshua's death. When he was shot I said " the V's don't have their hart there and can't they just bring him back ".

I think Anna is going to end up going crazy in the future. Not just a little crazy but totally over the edge. I would love to see how that would be handled.

I was surprised that V didn't get canceled ( most shows I like do get canceled ) so I hope that it can build a bigger following next season.
